If Wednesday is Hump Day, Is July Hump Month??

This week, we've been busy as usual :) but we did enjoy the holiday weekend! We didn't really do anything special, but hung around home and worked the yard doing various tasks. I scrubbed the vinyl siding, if that tells you how exciting our 4th of July was! :) Then it started raining, and kept raining, so we just spent some lazy time inside. I was feeling the urge to warm up my sewing machine, but didn't want to start any big projects. Since Annabel's so into her "babies" right now, and putting them "ni-night," I decided to make her a little baby doll quilt. I rounded up some flannel scraps I had, as well as some flannel Geneva gave me (the monkeys) and an old satin bathrobe, and went to work! I think it turned out pretty cute!

The front

And, of course, the back

And in use!

The satin was kind of difficult to work with- it's very slippery, as you can probably imagine! This was a really fun project, and easy enough to whip up in an afternoon. Annabel loves her new "ni-night," and my urge to sew was satisfied, at least for a couple days. :)

And now for the exciting news: Annabel has gone poopy in the potty 3 times this weekend! Once yesterday and twice today! WOW! The first two times I directed her to the potty when she said she had to go, then the last time she went all on her own!! I didn't even know she had gone until she came and told me "uh-oh," while pointing to the bathroom:) The uh-oh was that only about a fourth of the doody actually went in the potty... oh well! It's a start. She's been really proud of herself- clapping and yelling "poop!" For only being 21 months, I'd say we're off to a good start!

The other night we got out the finger-paints. She still isn't too sure of having it on her hands, but she sure did enjoy painting herself! She also liked to walk over the paper and smear the paint with her feet... and I'm all for creative expression, even foot-paintings! :) Haha.

And yes, she's completely buck-naked! That's the only way to paint, don't you know?! Oh, the places paint ended up...

Today I took Annabel to the water park in our town. It's fairly new, and we hadn't been there yet. I think it would have been more fun if a) you had a child who enjoyed water, or b) had a child who didn't hate water. So yeah, that was a waste of $4. But while we were there I snapped this lovely photo...

Don't you think this should be a health code violation?? Ugh- long hair like this totally grosses me out! Can you imagine swimming and getting a 3-foot long hair wrapped around you??

::shudder::

Tonight Derek is canning green beans from the garden. So exciting! We've also had some cucumbers and lettuce so far, but that's about it. A few of the cherry tomatoes have been ready, but they pretty much get eaten as they're picked! I also took Annabel to pick blackberries last week, and we had so much fun! She was so cute- she'd see one, then start pointing and jumping, and as soon as I picked it her little hand was out to eat it! They were pretty sparse so there was nothing left to show for our efforts :(

That's about all the summer fun we've been having lately! I've started my new class (July term) which is my last one ever. I had a sad moment on the first day when I realized it was my last "first day" of class ever (or at least for a while!). I think it will be weird to not be a student anymore, especially if I don't find a job right away. Speaking of class, I have a test tomorrow, and should really be studying instead of blogging! Until next time!

You are simply hilarious. I have to keep myself from laughing out loud late at night when I'm reading your posts...! I especially sympathize with the looooong hair fobia. Ewwie.

I understand about the long hair thing, but I am actually surprised that you would put a picture of a little girl on your blog and then comment about her hair.......in my opinion it's kind of distasteful. By the way this is an innocent little girl. I don't think you would appreciate it if someone took a pic of your child and did the same thing! My opinion.

Um, okay tv person. Isn't it odd when people you don't know post on your blog?? For the record, you idiot, the long-haired woman was well in her 40's. And the "child" in the blog?- MINE. Thanks for being so observant!

I love the bare butt painting! I never painted like that when I was little but I sure would have loved it! A is too cute!

As for the rude comment from the unknown: they need to find something else to do rather than follow the blogs of strangers.

haha, butt painting...makes me think of a college memory! oh the things that happen on a Bible college campus, hehe! i am grossed out by any hair touching me in the water, and a 3 footer would just be beyond disgusting! don't you just love how some people just want something to complain about and will do so anywhere and everywhere? what a sad way to live life! that's just one reason why i like keeping my blog private :-D

Wow this got taken way out of proportion. The "idiot" you refer to is Jason Jones. I apologize for the comment, I honestly thought the pic of the long haired woman was a small girl. So Sorry for the confusion, never meant to cause anything, just read your blog, I still find it a little odd to take a pic of someone, little girl or adult woman, and talk about them behind their back, but maybe you know them I don't know, I am sure you will let me know. Good thing not just anyone can see your blog. And if only I could follow the blogs of strangers! LOL!
Oh p.s. Tell Derrick I said hey. It is awesome though to cause a little controversy.......LOL..just teasing.....And by the way I knew that she was your daughter. I apologize for my opinion on a matter I obviously knew nothing about. And at least you said "Idiot" instead of something else. I have been called worse. LOL!

Ok, Jason, Sorry for calling you an idiot. I was going to just delete all these silly comments, but Derek said then you would WIN! Haha!
Anyway, I guess I can see your point about putting a stranger on my blog, but I was more just talking about the hair and not the person. That's why I didn't show their face and i actually cropped the pic so no faces were in it.
Anyway, no hard feelings here. I will say, however, that if you're going to post somewhat controversial comments, you should at least identify yourself!!

I understand about the whole "identifying yourself thing" I do that to get a rise out of people, it's my own sick twisted humor, LOL..
Anywho......this is actually the first time that I have read anyone's blog and I probably shouldn't anymore....Ha Ha.....and yeah I can be an idiot sometimes, just ask Lisa.

Love the comments too! :) Gross...I HATE any hair that isn't attached to a person's body...and sometimes I hate that hair too. lol. I would probably vomit if that hair got wrapped around me in a pool. Yuck!
I am so jealous of your community garden. Love the new baby quilt.
